Trips and Tales Travel Group Limited

About Trips and Tales

Trips and Tales was created to redefine what a travel partner should be. We offer a calm, structured, concierge-led approach to travel that goes beyond generic itineraries. As a Kenya-based agency with deep local expertise in East Africa, we combine insider knowledge of our home region with carefully curated global experiences. Every journey is thoughtfully designed with intention, balance, and attention to detail, allowing you to travel with confidence, comfort, and clarity.

While we have unparalleled expertise in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda), Southern Africa, and the Indian Ocean islands, we also curate exceptional experiences across Asia, the Middle East, and other global destinations. Our carefully selected partner network ensures we maintain the same high standards of service regardless of where your journey takes you.

Bespoke means your journey is designed from the ground up around your preferences, interests, travel style, and budget. We don’t offer off-the-shelf packages. Instead, we listen closely to your goals and preferences, then create a personalized itinerary featuring exceptional stays, meaningful moments, and seamless logistics tailored specifically to you.

Planning Your Journey

For safari journeys and peak travel periods (July-October in East Africa, December-January globally), we recommend booking 6-9 months in advance to secure the best lodges and camps. For other destinations and seasons, 3-6 months is typically sufficient. However, we can also arrange last-minute travel when availability permits.

  1. Start with an Enquiry: Share your travel dates, interests, and the style of trip you’re envisioning
  2. Design Call: We’ll have a dedicated conversation with a Travel Designer to refine your vision
  3. Tailored Itinerary: You’ll receive a thoughtfully built proposal shaped around your preferences
  4. Booked & Seamless: Once confirmed, we handle every detail so you can simply look forward to departure

Yes. You’ll work with a dedicated Travel Designer who will be your single point of contact throughout the planning process and during your journey. They’ll get to know your preferences and ensure consistency in service.

Absolutely. We work closely with all our partners to accommodate dietary restrictions, accessibility needs, celebration arrangements, and any other special requirements. Please share these with us as early as possible so we can ensure they’re properly addressed.

Our Family & Private Travel experiences are designed with multigenerational dynamics in mind. We select family-friendly properties, arrange age-appropriate activities, consider nap times, and ensure there’s something engaging for every family member. Many of our team members are parents themselves and understand the unique considerations of traveling with children.

Pricing & Payment

We do not charge separate consultation or planning fees. Our service is built into the overall cost of your journey, and we believe inspiration and expert guidance should be accessible from the first conversation.

Every journey is individually priced based on your specific requirements, travel dates, accommodation choices, and experiences selected. We provide transparent, detailed proposals so you understand exactly what’s included. Our pricing is competitive and often comparable to booking directly, with the added value of our expertise and seamless service.

This varies by itinerary, but typically includes: accommodation, private transfers and transportation, activities and experiences as outlined, park fees and permits, selected meals, and our full concierge service. International flights, visa fees, travel insurance, gratuities, and personal expenses are usually separate unless otherwise specified.

We accept bank transfers (both local and international), credit cards, and mobile money transfers for Kenyan clients. Payment terms will be outlined in your booking confirmation.

Cancellation terms vary depending on the services booked and proximity to departure. Standard terms include deposits being non-refundable, with varying cancellation fees depending on timing. We’ll provide specific terms for your itinerary and strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance.

Travel Logistics

Yes, we can arrange both international and domestic flights as part of your comprehensive travel package. Our Air Ticketing service ensures seamless connections and the best routing for your itinerary.

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering trip cancellation, medical emergencies, evacuation, and baggage loss. While we can recommend providers, you’re welcome to use your preferred insurance company. Insurance is your responsibility and should be purchased at the time of booking.

Visa requirements vary by destination and nationality. We’ll advise you on requirements for your specific itinerary and can assist with the application process for certain destinations. Kenya offers e-visas for most nationalities, which we can help you navigate.

We recommend consulting your doctor or a travel medicine clinic well in advance (at least 6-8 weeks before travel). For East Africa, yellow fever vaccination certificates may be required, and malaria prophylaxis is recommended for certain regions. We’ll provide destination-specific health guidance with your travel documents.

We’ll provide detailed guidance on currency, exchange rates, and tipping etiquette for each destination. In East Africa, US dollars are widely accepted alongside local currencies. Tipping guidelines vary by country and service type, and we’ll include recommended amounts in your pre-departure information.

During Your Journey

We’re available 24/7 should you need assistance during your journey. You’ll have emergency contact numbers for both our Nairobi office and local representatives in your destinations. Our partners on the ground also provide direct support at hotels, lodges, and during activities.

Contact your local guide, hotel manager, or our 24/7 emergency line immediately. We’ll work to resolve any issues quickly and efficiently. Having concerns addressed promptly while you’re still traveling ensures we can take corrective action and protect your legal rights.

While we plan meticulously, we understand that flexibility may be needed. Changes during travel are subject to availability and may incur additional costs. Our team will do everything possible to accommodate reasonable requests, though some elements may be non-refundable.

Most hotels and lodges in our collection offer Wi-Fi, though connectivity in remote safari areas can be limited (which many guests appreciate!). We’ll advise on mobile coverage and recommend local SIM cards if needed. International roaming packages are available from most carriers.

Safari-Specific Questions

The Great Migration in Kenya’s Masai Mara peaks July-October, while Tanzania’s Serengeti offers excellent viewing December-March. However, East Africa offers exceptional wildlife viewing year-round, with each season offering unique advantages. We’ll recommend the best timing based on your specific interests.

Many lodges and camps welcome children, though minimum age requirements vary (typically 6-12 years depending on the property and activities). Family-friendly properties offer specially designed children’s programs, while some exclusive camps maintain higher age limits to preserve the intimate safari atmosphere. We’ll recommend options appropriate for your family composition.

Safari vehicles approach wildlife at safe, respectful distances that comply with park regulations and prioritize animal welfare. Experienced guides understand animal behavior and positioning for optimal (and safe) viewing and photography. Walking safaris offer different perspectives under armed guide supervision.

When conducted properly with experienced guides and reputable operators (as all our partners are), safari travel is very safe. Guides are trained in wildlife behavior and safety protocols. We work exclusively with operators who prioritize guest safety while respecting wildlife and conservation guidelines.

Sustainability & Responsible Travel

We’re committed to responsible tourism that benefits local communities and conservation efforts. We partner with properties and operators who employ local staff, support community initiatives, and follow sustainable practices. We believe travel should be a force for good, enriching both travelers and the destinations they visit.

Yes, many of our experiences include meaningful cultural interactions and support local enterprises. From employing Kenyan guides to partnering with community-run conservancies and social enterprises, we ensure tourism benefits extend to local populations.
